Onstar VS Garmin GPS

The experiment was to see how Onstar performed vs my Garmin GPS device.  Destination was a large chain gym pretty close to my house…

I dial up Onstar and a REAL, LIVE person answers and looks up the address. Even though it took her a few moments and a conversation to get the correct location, you still feel more confident dealing with a live human rather than just a piece of technology, PLUS.

The directions are directly sent to the Camaro and visible on the radio consul, no extra plug-in device needed, PLUS.

As Onstar tells you the street by street directions the radio turns down and then automatically goes back up so no missing instructions because the radio is on. PLUS!

Since I didn’t have the exact street address I couldn’t plug in the address on my Garmin GPS. You either need the exact street location to find your destination or it needs to come up as a point of interest in the GPS database. In this case my gym didn’t come up, MINUS.

Garmin GPS does over a visual map and Onstar and you can save a location once you get there. MINUS.
