Diane from Tampa Bay in her new Camaro!

The following is a blog written by Diane! A Working Women of Tampa Bay member and friend to both Jessica and Liz! She’s been following the girlfriend getaway blogs in Tampa and finally decided to take the Camaro plunge… again!

Here is Diane’s story…

When the announcement came out that Chevy was going to start making the CAMARO again, my heart skipped a beat.  See, my first car in 1985 was a 1981 Camaro RS.  My next two cars after that were also Camaros.  Then I got married and became a mom and had SUVs.

Earlier this year I took a self-discovery course that a mentor of mine taught and set some goals.  One of them was to become a 2010 Camaro owner.  A few other things in my SendOutCards business had to fall into place, but I put the goal out there.

So as this year progressed pieces started falling into place….and I started looking at the Camaros on the Chevy website.  I even built a few of them and just stared at them. It had been a long time since I drove a sports car…Some how I knew I wanted this car so badly, but I hadn’t test drove the car.   About six weeks ago, after having the budget talk with my husband, I went to my credit union and got pre-approved for the loan.  Still not test driving the car.   Then we had some family emergencies that put off the test drive…but then on the Working Women of Tampa Bay site I saw the “Girlfriend Getaway” event at Castriota Chevrolet……mmmmmm maybe this was the event that would get me to finally test drive my dream car.

Friday afternoon before the “Girlfriend Getaway”, I had reason to be in Hudson so I batted my eyes and asked my husband if we could stop at the Chevy dealership to FINALLY have a test drive.  He, of course, said “yes”.  When we pulled up Jonathan, our sales guy, walked out and introduced himself.  He asked what we were looking for and with a gigantic smile on my face I said “a red Camaro”.  See the colors of SendOutCards are Red and Black, so that’s what I wanted a Red Camaro with the black stripe.

Jonathan asked what else I wanted in the car and I let him know that all I really wanted was an automatic and a radio that I could plug my Ipod in.  Wouldn’t you know we walked to the front of the lot and there she was just sitting there waiting for me to get behind the wheel.  So that’s what I did…and within the first 60 seconds of driving her onto US Hwy 19, I knew I had to take her home……………….

After chatting for a bit with the crew at Castriota, we had a deal in place and I came back Saturday morning just as the “Girlfriend Getaway” had started to sign all the papers.

Like my other three Camaros I named her,..we call her Scarlett.  She is now part of the family and now when I have to think about my 27 mile (one way) trip to my office, I get a little skip in my step and a giggle crosses my lips then I get behind the wheel and start Scarlett up.  I hear the purr of her engine and then I start flipping through the XM stations on my radio (the car has three months free subscription when you purchase the vehicle) and start my heavenly trip home!
